On Friday Aug 28, Florida Gov. Rick Scott declared a state of emergency in advance of Tropical Storm Erika. Please bring in everything from your balcony as soon as possible in advance of the rain and strong winds that will accompany this storm.
Although Florida hasn’t had a big hurricane in almost 10 years, we should take this situation seriously and prepare accordingly. Weather.com recommends these items to include in your hurricane kit:
- Non-perishable food, such as energy bars
- Batteries
- Radio, battery operated or hand cranked
- Cellphone charger
- LED flashlight for each member of the family
- Lighter
- First aid kit
- 1 gallon of water for every member of the family

Unrelated to the impending severe weather, an unusual note was posted to most of the doors at The Presidential early Friday morning. Although it was attributed to a board member, it was not on Presidential Condominium letterhead, and no one on the board was involved in its distribution.
If you have any information about who impersonated a board member and distributed this notice, please share that with the Main Office.
The letter included information which conflicted with the board’s policy regarding construction, published in our Spring 2014 Newsletter:
If you have hired contractors to do any work on your unit, they need to be licensed and insured. Copies of their information need to be on file in the office before any work can begin.
The board apologizes for any confusion this may have caused. And thanks in advance for any help you can provide in identifying who created this misleading notice.
