If you have a parking spot at The Presidential, 2015 brings a new way to open and close the gates to the parking lot. A passive “parking FOB” tag will open and close the gates to the parking area — without having to click any buttons.
Here’s how it works. Drive up to the gate — slowly — and the Parking FOB placed on the dashboard of your car will do the rest. Stop by the Main Office to pick up your FOB — one per unit.
As with any new technology, it may take a few tries to get the hang of how it works.
- You may need to get fairly close to the gate for them to be read by the system.
- The FOBs won’t work properly if they are in you glove box or your pocket or purse. The FOB needs to be on the dashboard or windshield.
How about the gate clickers? They still work, although the long term plan is to phase them out as the Parking FOBs are a more secure way of entering and exiting the parking lot.
A few of the spots adjacent to the gates will have to enter/exit old-school-style with the clickers. Unfortunately, these spots are too close to the gates and FOBs left in cars will cause the gates to randomly open and close.
